Using a kitchen colander remains one of the quickest and most effective ways to drain or dry food. Designed with handles or lipped edges, colanders are easy to lift and shake - great for removing all excess water in seconds. If you prefer to let your ingredients drain while carrying out other tasks, a colander with a flat or ridged base can be placed in pots or pans. A lightweight plastic colander with larger perforated holes is ideal for draining freshly washed fruit or as a smaller alternative to a salad spinner.
